Tally MCP server

Let Claude and ChatGPT read your Tally books

TallyNexa's hosted MCP server connects the AI assistant you already use to your TallyPrime books: you sign in, choose the books it may read, and approve anything it proposes.

The address: https://tallynexa.ai/mcp. Add it as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT, sign in to TallyNexa and allow the books it may read. Ask “who owes us the most past 90 days?” and the assistant answers from your books.

What an assistant can do

  • Read, as you. The assistant gets the tools Nexa AI uses, cut to your role and to the books you allowed, and nothing a setting keeps from you.
  • Propose, if you let it. Each change waits in TallyNexa as a card until you say yes there.
  • Stop when you say. End a connection at any time; a person who leaves the account loses theirs.

Compared with running an open-source MCP server on your own PC, there is no Node.js to install, no port to open to the internet, and the books stay readable when the office PC is off.

Questions about the MCP server

What is an MCP server?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is how AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to other services. TallyNexa's MCP server at https://tallynexa.ai/mcp lets an assistant you connect read your Tally books, as you and within your role.

How do I connect Tally to Claude?

In Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app), open Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, and paste https://tallynexa.ai/mcp. Sign in to TallyNexa, choose the books Claude may read and whether it may propose changes, and allow it. Your books must be synced to TallyNexa by the connector first.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes, as a custom connector in ChatGPT's developer mode: add https://tallynexa.ai/mcp with OAuth and sign in. OpenAI's menus and plan requirements change, so check OpenAI's help for the current steps.

Can the assistant change my Tally books?

Only through you. If you allow it to propose changes, each one waits in TallyNexa as a card until you say yes there; nothing an assistant proposes is posted to Tally on the Insight plan.

Do I need to run anything on my PC?

Only the TallyNexa connector beside Tally, which keeps your books in step. The MCP server is hosted by TallyNexa: there is nothing else to install and no port to open.
