How to see TallyPrime data on mobile: 4 ways compared

TallyPrime runs on a Windows computer, so seeing your books on a phone means reaching that computer, moving Tally to a server, or keeping a copy of the figures in an app made for phones. Here are the four routes and what each asks of you.

Short answer: There are four common ways to see TallyPrime data on a phone: Tally’s own browser access to reports through Tally.NET, a remote desktop app into the office computer, Tally hosted on a cloud server, or a connector app such as TallyNexa that keeps the books in a phone-friendly web app. Browser access and remote desktop need the office computer on with Tally running; cloud hosting does not; a connector shows the books as of the last sync even when the office computer is off.

First, the limit

TallyPrime is desktop software for Windows. Your company data sits in a folder on the computer where Tally is installed, or on a server in your office. A phone cannot open that folder directly, so every option below either reaches the computer that holds the data, runs Tally somewhere else, or keeps a copy of the figures in an app made for small screens.

Choose by answering two questions. Do you only need to see figures, or also enter vouchers? And will the office computer be on when you look?

Option A: Tally’s browser access to reports

Recent TallyPrime releases let you open reports in a web browser through Tally.NET, Tally’s own online service. In outline:

  1. Check that your TallyPrime licence has an active subscription (TSS); online access depends on it.
  2. On the office computer, connect the company to Tally.NET and set up browser access for reports.
  3. Give each person access with a Tally.NET user ID and the rights they need.
  4. On the phone, open Tally’s browser access page, sign in with that ID and pick the company.

The data is served from the office computer, so TallyPrime needs to be running there with the company connected while you look. It is meant mainly for viewing reports. Menu names change between releases, so follow Tally’s help for the release you have.

Option B: a remote desktop app

A remote desktop app shows the office computer’s screen on your phone. You see TallyPrime exactly as it is in the office and can enter vouchers too. The cost is whatever the app charges; some are free for light use.

The drawbacks are practical. Tally’s screens are made for a keyboard and a large monitor, so reading them on a phone means a lot of zooming. The office computer must stay on and awake, and nobody at the office should be using it at the same moment.

Option C: Tally on cloud

Here TallyPrime and your data move to a server run by a hosting provider. Each user connects through a remote desktop app on any device, including a phone. Tally Solutions offers a hosted option of its own, and many partners and hosts offer similar plans. Tally on cloud hosts charge per user per month, on top of your Tally licence.

The office computer no longer needs to be on, and you can enter vouchers from anywhere. On a phone you still look at the full desktop screen, so it suits occasional checks better than daily reading.

Option D: a connector app such as TallyNexa

A connector is a small program on the office computer that reads your books from TallyPrime and keeps a copy up to date in an online app. TallyNexa works this way:

  1. On the Windows computer that runs TallyPrime, download the free TallyNexa connector from tallynexa.ai/download and install it. It needs no administrator password.
  2. In TallyPrime, set Client/Server configuration once: TallyPrime acts as Both, Enable ODBC Yes, Port 9000.
  3. Open the companies you want in TallyPrime and choose which books TallyNexa may read.
  4. On your phone, open tallynexa.ai in any browser and sign in.

The first read goes month by month; a book of about 90,000 vouchers takes minutes. After that, each new or changed entry arrives within minutes while Tally is open. When the office computer is off, TallyNexa still shows the books as of the last sync. You get a live dashboard, receivables, cash, GST views and 41 reports that fit a phone, and a daily summary on WhatsApp if you want one.

Day-to-day entry stays in TallyPrime. TallyNexa can post purchase and sales bills you have checked and approved into Tally through the connector, on the Business plan and above.

Which one to choose

  • You enter vouchers away from the office every day: Tally on cloud is the cleanest route.
  • You check a report now and then and the office computer is always on: Tally’s browser access or a remote desktop app may be enough.
  • You want to read the business on your phone every day, such as who owes you, cash, sales and GST, without keeping a screen at the office open for you: a connector app fits best.

You can mix them. Many businesses keep Tally on the office computer for entry and use a connector for the owner’s phone. TallyNexa plans start at ₹5,000 a year (Insight, before GST); the pricing page shows the current launch offer.

TallyNexa is not affiliated with Tally Solutions. It is built for TallyPrime; if you use Tally ERP 9, write to hello@tallynexa.ai before you start.

Questions people ask

Is there a TallyPrime app for Android or iPhone?

TallyPrime itself is Windows software. On a phone you either reach it (Tally’s browser access or a remote desktop app), use it hosted on a cloud server, or use a connector app such as TallyNexa that keeps a copy of the books in a phone-friendly web app.

Tally Prime mobile me kaise chalaye?

Pick one of four routes: Tally’s browser access to reports through Tally.NET, a remote desktop app into the office computer, Tally on cloud, or a connector such as TallyNexa. For reading figures every day, a connector is simplest; for entering vouchers, use Tally on cloud or remote desktop.

Can I see Tally data on mobile when the office computer is off?

With Tally on cloud, yes, because Tally runs on the host’s server. With TallyNexa you see the books as of the last sync, and new entries arrive once the computer is on and the company is open in TallyPrime. Browser access and remote desktop need the office computer on.

Is my Tally data safe in a connector app?

Ask where the data is kept and who can read it. TallyNexa keeps data in India, encrypts it in transit and reads only the books you choose.
